Eleven children, and the families they built. This archive was made by one descendant. It belongs to all of them.
This site is a descendant’s record — built from archival documents, family memory, and the silences between them. It was built to restore what the record flattened and to name what history omitted.
But one descendant can only carry so much. The archive was built from a handful of documents — an estate inventory, a bill of sale, an emancipation bond, a mortgage, a land deed, a century of census schedules, a pension file — and what one branch of the family remembered. It is not finished. It was never meant to be built by one person alone.
The record kept what it was willing to keep.
Families kept the rest.
The documented line
Silvia Hector Webber and John Ferdinand Webber had eleven documented children. Each of those children built a family. Those families spread across Texas, Mexico, and beyond — and most of what they carried did not make it into any archive.
Most of them carried two names — one Anglo, one Spanish or family — and the records disagree with each other constantly. If a name in your family looks close but not exact, that is normal here. It is often how we find each other.

What the archive asks of you
If you are descended from Silvia Hector Webber — and/or from John Ferdinand Webber, or from any of the eleven documented children — you carry something this archive does not yet hold. We invite you to share what you’d like — be it a picture, facts, oral history, your own story, a document in a drawer.
You do not need to know whether it matters. You do not need to be certain of the connection. Write anyway. Working that out is part of what this project does.
